چکیده
In this paper, we present the design of our surgery simulator under the aspects of multimodal object representation and parallelization on multicore architectures. Special focus is put on cutting. Surgical incisions can be accomplished interactively with force feedback.

A Critical Visual Analysis of Gender Representation of ELT Materials from a Multimodal Perspective
This content analysis study, employing a multimodal perspective and critical visual analysis, set out to analyze gender representations in Top Notch series, one of the highly used ELT textbooks in Iran. For this purpose, six images were selected from these series and analyzed in terms of ‘representational’, ‘interactive’ and ‘compositional’ modes of meanings. The result indicated that there are...
متن کاملThe Significance of Multimodality/Multiliteracies in Iranian EFL Learners’ Meaning- Making Process
The main objective of this study was to investigate how Iranian EFL learners used their literacy practices and multimodal resources to mediate interpretation and representation of an advertisement text and construct their understanding of it. Fifteen female adolescents at an intermediate level of proficiency read the "مبلمان برلیان" (“Brelian Furniture”) advertisement text and re-created their ...
متن کاملVisualizing Inner Structures in Multimodal Volume Data
With the evolution of medical image acquisition techniques, the capacity and fidelity of image-based diagnosis were extended. The current trend is to acquire information using multiple sources to help medical diagnosis, but the integration of the multivariate data into a single 3-D representation is non-trivial. Techniques for the visualization of multimodal volume data have been developed with...
متن کاملUsing Linked Volumes to Model Object Collisions
| In Volume Graphics, objects are represented by arrays or clusters of sampled 3D data. A volumetric object representation is necessary in computer modeling whenever interior structure a ects an object's behavior or appearance. However, existing volumetric representations are not su cient for modeling the behaviors expected in applications such as surgical simulation, where interactions between...
متن کاملDynamic volume texture mapping and model deformation for visually realistic surgical simulation.
For computer assisted surgical simulation to be effective, objects in the simulated environment should respond to the user's actions dynamically with correct visual information. This includes dragging and cutting that cause changes in geometry, topology and appearance. Geometric object representation can be manipulated intuitively in real-time but does not preserve interior information. Volumet...
